Dentures in Chicago
What are Partials and Dentures?
Full and partial dentures are great for improving your smile and overall functionality of your mouth. Complete dentures are a great choice for individuals who are missing all of their teeth on one complete arch. Partial dentures are great for our patients who have most of their own natural teeth but who are missing enough to warrant a prosthetic appliance. Both partial and full dentures can last for up to eight years before they should be replaced.
Why would Partials and Dentures be needed?
Full dentures may be needed if you’re missing all of your teeth on one arch or if you have severely advanced gum disease. Partial dentures are more for individuals who still have a lot of healthy tooth structure in their mouths but still need something to help replace many of the teeth they’re missing. The reason either of these prosthetic appliances is needed is because they help to improve your smile, the way that your face and mouth looks as well as how well you’re able to chew and eat food.
Who is a candidate for Partials and Dentures?
Our Chicago dentists can perform a comprehensive examination to determine if you’d benefit from a full or partial denture. Most patients who require a denture can safely have the procedure done. If you have decayed or loose teeth in your mouth, Dr. Barsa may suggest having them removed before being fitted for a prosthetic appliance. Dentures are great for our patients who want a quick and removable way to enhance their smile.
What occurs during the procedure for Partials and Dentures?
You may first need to have several dental extractions done before a permanent denture is made for you. Once healed, we’ll take impressions of your gums and teeth to send off to a trusted lab. The lab technicians will work to create the full or partial denture for you. Your next appointment involves fitting the appliance and making small adjustments as needed. You can expect to need a few adjustments before the fit is perfect and your new prosthesis feels completely comfortable.

Dental X-rays
A dental x-ray can help us to see what would otherwise be missed with a regular examination. X-rays allow our dentists in Chicago to see underlying cavities, infections, impacted teeth and issues with restorations that would go unnoticed.
Cosmetic Fillings
A dental filling is a restoration that is specifically used to fill in an area of one or more teeth that have become decayed. Dental decay, known as a cavity, can infiltrate a tooth and cause it to become weak.
Clear Aligners
Clear Aligners are a treatment that gently move teeth into place. The trays are worn in a series over time to create a beautiful smile. Clear Aligners are a popular alternative to traditional braces, and do not have any brackets or wires.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a type of cosmetic procedure that helps to improve the look of minor imperfections and flaws at the front of your smile. Bonding uses composite resin material to cover areas of discoloration, staining, cracks, chips, gaps and spaces.
